Stars align at HDN’s virtual conference
100 delegates attended HDN’s Virtual Mentoring Celebration last week (3rd September), the annual high point of our mentoring programme.
Each year mentees and mentors come together to review their successes and challenges of the previous year and, with COVID 19 changing the way we all work, the HDN team, led by Programmes Manager Moreen Pascal, pulled out all the stops to provide a real event feel at the virtual event.
Using software provided by the Chartered Institute of Housing delegates had ample opportunity to network with new contacts on their virtual table; and listen to, and interact with, speakers.
But it was the stellar performances of the speakers which helped bring the conference to life, with Helen White, chief executive of Taff Housing Association setting the standard with an entertaining, emotive and powerful opening. A panel discussion on working with COVID shared smart tips around how we can all strike a happy and productive work/life balance, and there were updates from mentors and mentees before Ben Laryea, chief executive of Ekaya Housing Association, delivered an inspirational address on the importance of bold leadership in 2020.
Well done to Moreen and the team for creating a vibrant and real event atmosphere. It was warm and positive and pleasingly easy for all the attendees to relax and interact.
But the stars on the day delivered…and how!
