Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Customer Accounts Officer

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to take up the role of Customer Accounts Officer (Recovery) in our Customer Accounts Recovery Team.

Working alongside our two Customer Accounts Support Teams, our Customer Accounts Recovery Team deliver Karbon’s rent collection and arrears management service to current tenants across a range of tenures.

About the role
This Customer Accounts role is part of our Recovery Team who are responsible for engaging with customers through the legal repossession process, maximising income for Karbon through a combination of tenancy sustainment and enforcement activities.

Customer Accounts Officers in our Recovery Team engage with customers in rent arrears, instigating legal proceedings and working with customers to help them stay in their home and meet their rent and arrears repayments. This will involve identifying and negotiating effective payment solutions across a designated patch and preparing and presenting cases for Court.

Our agile working approach means you’ll have the ability to manage your caseload both from home and our office locations, attending Court hearings and visiting customers as required.

About you
You will be a great communicator with a strong track record in delivering income management services. You will work collaboratively, well under pressure and have comprehensive knowledge of rent arrears recovery practices and legislation.

You will have good knowledge of housing benefit and universal credit as well as county court procedures and court protocols.

The successful candidate will work in our Recovery Team led by our Customer Accounts Recovery Team Manager, Katie Ross.

  • Customer Accounts Officer (Recovery) – part time, permanent

  • Salary is £35,117 per annum plus a Karbon car payment of £2,260 per annum (pro-rata)

  • Location: Newcastle

  • Regular travel will be required

  • 15 Hours per week with some homeworking available/flexible working
