Job Title
Chair of Audit & Risk Committee & Resident Board Member
Organisation
Arhag Housing Association
Job Description

We are seeking a Chair of Audit and Risk Committee and a Resident Board Member

Are you passionate about supporting refugees and migrants? Would you like to be part of a housing association committed to being a good landlord and to provide a safe space, place and environment for migrants and refugees in London whilst also developing their potential? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

Arhag was founded in 1979 to respond to an urgent need for housing and support among Britain’s fast-growing refugee and migrant communities. We have grown from those humble beginnings and now own and manage over 900 homes across fifteen boroughs, fourteen in London including a hostel in Stratford for people who need support and guidance to build a future in one of our communities.

We are ambitious and are looking to build on our position of being the ‘go-to organisation’ on addressing issues facing refugees and migrants. We are looking to develop our offer to provide a wider range of activities and to further increase our influence.

With our current Chair of Audit and Risk Committee reaching the end of their tenure, we are now seeking to appoint a new Chair. We are looking for an experienced non-executive to lead a well-established committee. Someone who buys into our vision and mission of ensuring every migrant and refugee in London has a good home, is empowered to safeguard their individual rights, have their voice heard and make a full contribution to their community.

Sector experience is preferred, and in particular we are seeking knowledge and experience in
ideally two or more of the following areas:

  • Corporate finance and treasury management.

  • Risk, corporate governance, and internal controls.

  • Financial operations and planning.

  • Working in a regulated industry.

  • Understanding and/or empathy of issues facing refugees and migrants

Our Corporate strategy has a further two years to run, which means, as the newly appointed Chair of Audit and Risk Committee, you will have the chance to help shape the organisation and have a real voice on its development. It’s a great time to join Arhag, and you could be playing a meaningful role in our future.

In addition to the Chair of Audit and Risk Committee role, we are also seeking a Resident Board Member who shares our values, cares about their community, and wants to make a difference. This is your opportunity to help shape the way we do things at Arhag and deliver on our promises.

We are committed to increasing equality, diversity, and inclusion within our Board composition. We encourage applications from individuals representing diverse perspectives, styles, and experiences, considering factors such as socio-economic circumstances, locality, background, viewpoints, and lived experiences.

If you are passionate about making a difference to refugee and migrants’ lives and possess the skills and qualities we are looking for, we invite you to apply for these key roles.
