HDN’s EDI Health Check may be the most useful starting point for an organisation in its journey of improvement in this area of work. The Health Check will consider the status of Equality and Diversity culturally, and in regulatory, employment and service delivery terms under four key themes – Leadership & Strategic Focus, Workforce, Customer Impact, and Community Impact.

These assessment strands align with our comprehensive Diversity Network Assessment (DNA), originally developed in collaboration with HDN members in 2012. The DNA certifies organisations excelling in EDI with accreditation. However, this option does not provide an accreditation but serves as a valuable tool for assessing and improving EDI practices. The framework is regularly updated to incorporate the latest best practices in EDI.

What’s involved:

Document review

A high level evaluation of what is currently in place at the organisation, as well as potential gaps.

Tenant Satisfaction review

An analysis of the organisations latest Tenant Satisfaction Measures, focussing particularly on those relating directly to customer inclusion and equality.

Interview with Chair of the Board

A chance to evaluate how well EDI is embedded and led on at governance level in the organisation.

Interview with Chief Executive

A chance to evaluate how well EDI is embedded and led on at the executive level in the organisation.

Colleague EDI Survey

A means of capturing the workforce’s understanding of EDI principles and why they are important to housing, their own views on how the organisation is performing around EDI, and a broad picture of the organisation’s workplace culture.
